A man randomly walked into a packed bar and threw paint over everyone.
Bizarre CCTV footage showed the hooded figure stepping into The Venue, in Lymm, Cheshire, and then drenching shocked customers on Tuesday evening.
Around 40 patrons had been waiting for a quiz night to begin when they were attacked at approximately 8.25pm.
The strange episode continued when an accomplice outside threw red paint at the front of the building.
Both of the men then left in a red van.
Emily Clare, who owns The Venue, reported the incident to police and also posted the footage on Facebook.
‘It all happened so fast, it was over in 30 seconds,’ the 25-year-old said.
‘I was stood there, it went all over me and the customers, everyone was covered in it.
‘And that was it, he was gone. Everyone was so shocked – our quiz night was about to start so the bar was packed.’
Instead of complaining they all got some paint thinner and managed to get everything clean within two hours.
She added: ‘No one screamed, they just stopped what they were doing, rolled up their sleeves and started helping us to clean.’
‘People were so helpful, I’ve had so many lovely messages and flowers, local businesses have been offering to help a well. It’s been overwhelming.’
A spokesman for Cheshire Police confirmed around 20 people were covered in paint.
‘We were called at 8.24pm on Tuesday to reports that a man had entered a bar and thrown a tin of paint at customers and staff,’ he said.
‘We are reviewing CCTV footage and enquiries are ongoing.’
